    Many thanks for the instruction video, Silver. The installation instructions from Accuracy Systems were all textual, i.e., no diagrams or pictures, which really sucks for us visual thinkers (monkey see, monkey understand, monkey do). Oh, if it weren't for that little, half grain of rice aluminum thing and the set screw, the gas adjustment screw WILL back out, and then you'll be back to bouncing hot brass off the head of the shooter three benches to your right. Yeah, it's fiddly but necessary. Thanks again, Silver.

    I'd like to make a delayed start signal for a project but I can't wrap my brain around these timers offered on Amazon. I have an inverter (Schneider Electric XW+) that will use a battery bank to power my critical loads. It can also get power from a generator that it will start when told to do so. I want to connect a 12vDC relay to a power adapter connected to a grid outlet, that is, not a critical load outlet. When the power goes out the relay will switch and the normally open connection will close. That's the trigger that the grid power is out. That trigger needs to delay start the generator after grid is down for 15 minutes by momentarily closing a connection on the inverter. However if the grid comes back up before the 15 minutes then everything is canceled, that is, I don't want to signal the inverter to start the generator. Another delayed timer relay is to stop the generator after the grid is up for 15 minutes. If it comes up and then down again before the 15 minutes, then nothing happens. But if the grid stays up for 15 minutes, (12vDC relay connected to grid power adapter is on), then a different connection on the inverter is momentarily made signaling it to stop the generator and return to using grid power for the critical loads. Any thoughts, comments, ideas, etc. will be appreciated! Thank you

    • @silverbankruptcy
      @silverbankruptcy 2 місяці тому

      I appreciate your interesting question. You can either do it with an Arduino, which I am not familiar with, or possibly with this relay, which is kind of like running your system like a 1960's Pinball Machine. The first question is whether your inverter has a built in Relay to trigger something like an alarm when the power goes out that you could use. It should have something like this built in. The XW Pro Manual states "Each XW Pro has one programmable 12 V, 0.25 A auxiliary output that is able to run a small fan or operate an external relay to perform other functions. Examples include remotely starting a two-wire start generator" Otherwise, A simple relay that is Normally closed could could do the first half of what you need it can be programmed to Open on a power outage. However, it can't be placed after the inverter because the inverter will fool it into thinking that you have power. Also it will not have a 15 minute delay if it has no power in order to monitor things. The device in this video is exactly what is needed to do a delayed timer relay since if it has power from the Grid (Must wire into grid before Inverter) it can then stop the generator after the grid is up for 15 minutes. I would recommend as follows: I assume that you can get alerts from your inverter on a power outage. Get a big battery Remote Startup device like this to Manually Remotely Start up the Generator: uhavecontrol.com/ The issue is that once you start up the generator, I assume you desire to charge the batteries, so if the gen powers the inverter, it will fool the inverter into thinking that utility Power has been restored. You could divert power off the main line and have a separate small fusebox before your inverter and generator and attach a Digital Input Monitor to it to keep you notified of the actual utility service. ua-cam.com/video/MYfavLwbsfU/v-deo.html I would do nothing but get alerts from the inverter and then use the Remote startup to start the generator Manually every day to keep the batteries charged. when you shut off the gen, you should see from the inverter whether power has been restored. The only problem is if you wait to long, the inverter will die and take with it, your ability to contact the remote start and get the generator turned on.

      @@silverbankruptcy Thanks for the thoughtful reply!! First I really enjoyed your reference to a 1960's Pinball Machine. I'm 70 so pinball was my thing. I wasted two college years playing pinball at the Student Union. I'm not sure how to get to the inverter relay but that is interesting. I'll look into it. I plan to connect a 12vDC relay to a power adapter connected to a grid outlet, that is, not a critical load outlet. When the power goes out the relay will switch and the normally open connection will close. That's the trigger that the grid power is out. I already have a hefty wires (10 gauge overkill) to conduct 12vDC voltage from inside the house (where the battery can't freeze) to the generator and a connector to the generator to initiate the auto-start circuit. It works great. I push a button in the basement and the generator starts. Push it again and it will stop. The inverter will stay alive and run critical loads for maybe 2 hours give or take. I don't want to wait too long. If the grid is down more than 10 or 15 minutes then it probably (key word there) not come back up within hours. (lived here 35 years so I know the drill) Some of the issues I can't wrap my head around are these: 1. If grid is down, start a 15 minute wait timer, call it timer1. 1.1 If grid comes back up before 15 minute timer1 is done then cancel timer1, return to normal state. (inverter will use grid power for critical loads and to recharge batteries) 2. After 15 minutes, start the generator. Inverter will (I believe) automatically use the generator power (also called AC2) for critical loads and to recharge the batteries. 3. When the grid comes back up start a timer2 (different timer) for, say, 10 minutes. 3.1 If the grid goes down again before the timer2 expires then cancel timer2 return to grid down state. 3.1.1 ISSUE here is that timer1 will begin since grid is newly down. If it hits signal to start the generator I can prevent it from stopping. A new start generator signal can be ignored. But I need to think this through more to be sure. 3.2 if grid stays up for 10 minutes then stop generator. Inverter will have already automatically begun to use grid power for critical loads.. Whew. My brain is fried. I need to capture all this and write it out in such a way to be sure it will work correctly in all cases. One thing that I failed to mention is that a momentary contact on the generator auto-start pins will start the generator if it isn't running but will do nothing if it is already running. Closing the contacts for 4 seconds will start the generator if it isn't running but will stop the generator if it is running. (sounds more complicated than it is.) Wow. I hope I haven't overstayed my comment! Is this making sense still?

    Sleep easy dude! that rifle didn't shoot any relative of yours and never fought in WW2. The short story about your rifle; In 1941 Portugal purchased something like 50k rifles. At the start of the second world war, part of that order was not delivered but instead was kept by the German army for their own use. I assure you your rifle Was not one of the rifles kept and used by the germans. Several times in the past, these rifles were released by Portugal and brought in as surplus. The most recent and probably your rifle was imported by Century Arms. I understand the the guy at the Mosin Crate, was able to sherry pick the rifles he sold, yours being one of them. Look for the import mark on the barrel. Recently there have been other dealers offering these rifles for sale, I do have to admit that the rifles offered by the Mosin Crate have been the best offerings as of yet. Note: please do not refinish the stock on that rifle, it would destroy it collectability.....

I installed the accurate with the adjustable gas block and a rubber bumper. also did a new recoil spring. what a difference to have cartridges landing on the table next to me. it was very enjoyable and I ended up finding 85 out of 90 rounds that I shot while I was playing with the gun. I use a 3X 9 power scope mounted on a bracket that mounts on the bolt stop cover! it's very convenient and you can still use the old site! getting cited in and happy on the spot all would go on a dinner plate 50 yards. after 90 rounds and I cleaned and lubricated the gun it was much much cleaner than it used to be. wow.

    The receiver is made of solid hardened brass.

      It is. Unlike the Golden Boy which uses Brasslite, which I have no complaints about, but it's not as beautiful as Brass! Thanks for Joining us!

    I have a birchwood stock with a non ventilated birchwood hand guard. It looks fantastic for display, like an old M1. Whenever I shoot the gun extensively, I put the factory ventilated guard back on.

      Great! I love the Old M-1. That's a Good Look!
